Hurrah! Freshers
The students of third semester of Bachelor of Journalism organized a fresher’s party for the students of Ist semester of Bachelor of Journalism and students of Post graduate diploma in Journalism on Oct 19, 2010. The students of B.J semester also attended the fresher’s party as guests. The event of fresher’s party was organized in an interesting and formal manner. The party began with the formal welcome of guests and Mr. Ashish Dwivedi gave the welcome address to the newcomers.
The fresher students were given titles on the names of media organizations and they came to stage for introduction according to the announcement of the title one by one and gave the introduction and performed the activity written on the slips picked by them after completion of their formal introduction. The extempore was nicely held and almost all of the students enjoyed the opportunity to explore and express their talent right at the moment.
This round proved to be actually interesting for the guests as the fresher’s performed their activities in an interesting and creative manner. Mr. Jitender VIshavkarma who was one of fresher’s won great applause of audience by giving his introduction in an interesting manner. Mr. Aushutosh mesmerized the students with his excellent performance of mimicry. The fresher’s were again given titles according to their performance and overall personality along with gift items. Mr. Jitender Vishavkarma received the award of best student and award was honored to him by Mr. Ashish Dwivedi.
The party proved to be a successful event due to excellent stage hosting skills of Narender Hazari and Prabhansh Khare. Some senior students entertained the guests with their guest performance such as Apeksha Prajapati sang a melodious song and Mr. Basant Sharma performed mimicry item. All the faculty members of Ink media school of Journalism also attended the event and they showered their blessings on newcomers by giving short speeches during concluding session of fresher’s party. All the guests and students enjoyed feast in the concluding session. The newcomers and old students shake their bodies on dance floor till late evening.

Futility of Cops for Security

The band of bad boys (police) was spread all over Sagar (M.P) on the day of final decision regarding Ayodhya issue. The district collector announced that schools and colleges can remain opened only till 1PM. On my way back home after closing of my college at 1 PM, I was able to see very less vehicles and people on the roads. I could also notice many police men standing at different points on the road. Some police men were also patrolling the city in many different police vans. The police vehicles loaded with policemen were moving all over city by giving halts of short time at main points of city. Article 144 was imposed on the whole city and according to it more than 2 people can not stand together at one place. An announcement for shop keepers to close their shops was also going on through loud speakers. I was thinking that if so many policemen are there on road for security of civilians then why shopkeepers are required to close the shops. How can we call this situation normal and safe, if everyone has to stop his work? What is the need of police on roads if people have to stay inside homes and if it can not help the people in carrying on with their normal routine? The presence of so many policemen in the absence of civilians was making the atmosphere more sensational in Sagar. I also heard about some incidents in which police beat some boys who were stood in small groups on this day. So, major fear among masses was not of any on toward incident but of police.

In the evening, I came out of home on bike with my husband after the announcement of final decision. I thought that there can not be any bad incident as the court has given its decision in favor of both the parties. Again I could notice only few people and many policemen on road. Only one or two shops were open and there was dreadful silence and darkness in the market .The presence of police was giving the feeling that something is surely going to happen. I concluded at the end of day that the presence of cops for handling any situation of chaos can not provide feeling of safety and security to citizens in general. So, if the government says that administration and security forces were on high alert on this day then it is wrong, rather, the people of India were on high alert on this day as they were conscious toward their safety and security in situations of chaos and disturbance. Moreover people have lost faith in government and police for their security during sensitive conditions and they just want to avoid the sensitive issues by staying at home.

Unfulfilled Dream of Dr. Hari Singh Gaur

Beautification of Sagar Lake was the dream of Dr. Hari Singh Gaur. Dr. Gaur wanted to make Sagar Lake a cheap mean of transportation. He wished that students should reach Sagar University by using streamers and boats in the Sagar Lake. But dream of Dr. Gaur shattered with the decay of Sagar Lake. The residential colonies were kept on building in the lake and the size of lake started reducing with the establishment of residential colonies in it. The administration awoke from its long sleep when it was shook many times and it started doing formalities for conservation of lake.

The specialists admit that the lake can be turned into a tourist spot if proper care is taken of it. According to a social thinker, Dr. Raghu thakur said “A strong determination is required for turning the lake into a Tourist Place”. He further added that the decision of Government regarding making a swimming pool in the play ground is not wise one and said that the amount of Rs. one million which the government is going to spend on making the new swimming pool should be spent on developing the Sagar lake and it should be turned lake into a swimming pool. The small pond that has dried can be turned into a picnic spot.

Dr. Anuradha Soni, Lecturer in Botany department of Sagar University admitted that this lake can be turned into a tourist spot but water lettuce has to be removed from it as it can make the water poisonous which can be harmful for fishes and other water bodies. She further suggested that the plants of Microsis and hydrilla should be planted in the lake. These plants purify the water and kill the worms and there is no harmful effect of these plants on fishes.

Dr. M.S Aggarwal and Dr. Sanjay Soni from Animal Science department of Sagar University told that the lake can be turned into a tourist spot but the cleanliness of lake should be done under the guidance of those who have already done research on lake. They also admitted that the water of lake can be converted into drinking water if it is purified by using scientific method.

The local administration is also aware of this fact although it does not make any sincere effort regarding it. Mr. Sanjay Tiwari, Engineer in local administration asserted that local administration has already consulted the tourism department of M.P about the issue of beatification of lake. The officials of tourism department did survey of water box of university, Rahatgarh water falls etc .and delayed the issue of cleanliness of Sagar Lake by saying that its size is small and there is no sufficient spacefor picnic, parking and roaming of tourists around it.
